Upcoming Training January - April 2015

The Five Rivers Fostering training schedule for January - April 2015 is now available for all Five Rivers carers. These workshops and training days will cover topics such as education, attachment, first aid, and much more.

Foster carers can access information regarding the time and location of each workshop by using their private login details.

Irish Foster Care Association Regional Seminar - Galway

The Mayo Branch is spearheading the Regional Seminar in the Ard Ri House Hotel Tuam, Co. Galway on 7th February, 2015.

The Seminar theme is Foetal Alcohol Syndrome Disorders and the main speaker is Dr. Kieran O’Malley who is well known for his work in this field.

Five Rivers Ireland Cork Office Has Moved

The Cork Branch of Five Rivers Ireland have moved offices. Our new address and contact information is as follows:

End of Year Celebration (Cork)

The Munster End of Year Celebration took place on 16th November. Over 60 foster carers, children and staff  attended for a day of fun-filled activies, which included ziplinging, snowboarding, and the Leap of Faith. Five Rivers Ireland would like to thank the Glen Resource Centre for hosting the event and making the day enjoyable for all.

Tusla asks Dubliners from all walks of life to consider fostering

Tusla have started a Campaign to recruit Foster Carers in the North Dublin area.

A new Tusla campaign is encouraging Dubliners from all walks of life to consider opening their home to a child.  The campaign is launched today (11/11/14) by Minister for State for New Communities, Culture & Equality, Aodhán Ó Ríordáin, TD.

Foster Carers Blog: The Day we went to Panel

After six months of soul searching and exploring questions and answers we finally received our date for panel, September 16th.  Our link worker asked us if we would like to attend on this day and we accepted because we felt it important to conclude the process by meeting face to face with the panel of people who had read our form F, which we had called our “this is your life” report.

Training for Five Rivers Foster Carers and Staff (20th September 2014)

We are delighted to have Marie Delaney facilitate an “Education Workshop” with carers and staff in Cork on Saturday 20/09/14. Marie is an Educational Psychotherapist,  MFL / EFL Teacher and Teacher Trainer and NLP Master Practitioner who has worked in a variety of education and academic settings. Her experience and insights promise to be particularly useful to understand the perspectives of young people and how our own emotional state can impact our interactions.
